Meet Charmie Deller, a talented and passionate singer-songwriter from Toronto. The soul/R&B singer will enchant you with her powerful and soulful voice. In addition to being a self-taught guitar player, Deller is also an outstanding piano player and various other instruments. With her rich and down-home style of singing, Deller is dedicated to follow her calling and spread her music message across the globe.
How old were you when you first started singing?
I started singing at the tender age of 5.
How would you describe your music to people?
I would describe my music to people as uplifting, inspirational and real.
What are you main impulses to write about music?
I’m inspired to write by my everyday lived situations, emotions and experiences.
Is there a particular song or musical passage that never fails to move you emotionally?
I’d have to say Greg Holden – Boys In The Street it never ever fails to move me to tears, such a powerful and empowering song!
Who has been the biggest influence in your music career?
What an easy question… John mayer, he’s such an amazing writer! Love, love, Love John Mayer!
How important is it for you to connect with other artists and industry peers?
I think it’s extremely important to connect with other artist and industry peers because there is a lot that we can learn from each other and a lot of the time we save each other from
How would you rate Toronto’s music scene? Do you think it’s rich and diverse enough?
I don’t have anything to compare Toronto’s music scene to but in my opinion I think it’s great. I definitely do think it’s rich and diverse enough. So many people are doing their own thing and have their own sound.
Which artist would you like to collaborate with in the future?
In the future I’d love to collaborate with in the future is NEFE, she’s an amazing beautiful singer-songwriter that the world needs to hear and I think we’d slay a song together like we slay demons that try to bring us down.
You’ve played at quite a few venues around the city. Which show has been the most memorable so far?
I think the most memorable performance actually took place in my friend’s living room. She invited a group of people into her home and we just shared our music and the energy in that home,in that moment was almost heaven like. The intimacy in that space was so intense and so pure. I shared some songs that I never had the courage to and It felt magical and meant to be!
What projects are you working on right now?
Right now I’m working on my EP and that’s all I’ll say about it! 😉
